Examples

On
On is used when talking about a certain hour, day, date or an event.
Examples
On my birthday I will have a party.
On friday we are going on hoilday
In
Can be used to talk about any time. weeks, months, year, minutes, day or night.
Examples
In the morning i am going to the dentist.
In 5 minutes the train is leaving.
