Greeting and introductions basic English lesson

 Basic greetings and introductions

During this English lesson you will learn how to greet someone and a small conversation. The lesson shows a brief conversation between 2 people.

Greeting someone

There are a lot of ways that you can greet someone. 

Hello Peter my name is Debbie, pleased to meet you.

Hello, I'm Richard what is your name?

Hello, my names Eve nice to meet you.

Can you tell me your name please?Learning about greetings and introductions

My name is Jack Pilkington pleased to meet you.

Greeting someone that you have never met:

Hello, my name is Sarah. It is a pleasure to meet you.

You can respond to this by saying one of the following

It's also pleasure to meet you to Sarah. I'm Jason.

A good question to ask someone after introductions is:- 

What do you do for a living?

If you are asked this you can reply with:-

I work at a cafe.
I work at a hospital.
I work in the local supermarket.
I am an English teacher.

Asking for somebodies name

A lot of the time people will tell you what there name  is without you having to ask for it, however if they do not you can ask using the following examples:

What is your name?

Hello, my name is Jason what is your name?

Remember if you did not hear them or understand them you can say:

What was your name again?
Am sorry, can you say your name again please.
