What are capital letters?
Capital letters have two main uses in the English language.
- They are used to show when the beginning of a sentence starts
- The second use is show when a noun is a proper noun.
Capital letters are used in two ways in English.
They are used to show the beginning of any sentence and to show that a noun is a proper noun.
When starting a new sentence the first letter is always capitalised.
Example:-
The boy cycled to school. It was a long way.
The personal pronoun 'I' is always capitalised.
Example:-
I am a studying English.
What are proper nouns?
A proper nouns ( sometimes they are called proper names) are special words used for such things like peoples names, specific people, countries, cities, organisations, days of the week, Months. All these will always start with a capital letter.
